One time in my life with Hotline Centre

Today, I would like to write something which I experienced on Hotline Centre counseling. I am proud of the work, because it is the most exciting work in my life.

Hotline Center is a organization that belongs to Catholic Association of Thailand. Last year, I took a meeting about counseling by hotline in the organization. After that I wanted to join with the organization to counsel people on hotline. I had asked permission of my superior and she agreed to it.

At the Hotline Centre, I learned something . There I had talked with my clients, I understood,loved them and we became friendly with each other although we didn’t know each other before.
I went there every Friday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The first time I was taken cared of by a trainer. After that I got more confidence that I could do things by myself.

My first client was a man. He told me, he was gay and so lonely. He had only a dog as his friend. He always had sex with his dog. The case was so heavy for me, a new counselor, as you know, how difficult for me to help this client. So I transfered him to an expert who was working as a counselor for a very long time at the Hotline Center. I also gave the expert’s telephone number to him to ask advice from her.

Almost every client who contacted with us have problems about their family life. Some clients who called us, they had started with tears and finished with laugh.

Following the rule of Hotline Center, we didn’t ask client’s name and gave our name to them, we also didn’t give our address to them and meet them. Although we trusted each other when we talked together by line. Every day at Hotline Center, there were about 10 volunteers to counsel clients by line. Although they haven’t got a salary, but all of them work with good heart.

I had been a volunteer about three months before I joined English class in Minburee. Although I worked in Hotline Centre in three months, but all experiences there were profit able for my life. Now I compare myself with others, I learned, God loves me so much and he never leaves me alone with my problem.

Now everyday there are also many clients who want help from us. They have many problems in their life. They are our brothers and sisters, are you ready to become a counselor to help them?
